The Academy’s organization consists of the following elements:

  • The Presiding Committee,
  • Academy Officials,
  • Committees, and
  • Sections.

Supporting the organization there is a Secretariat.

The Presiding Committee
The Academy is managred by a presiding committee consisting of the President, the Vice President, the Permanent Secretary, the Treasurer and the Chairpersons of the Sections. The presiding committee meets once a month during spring and autumn.

The Academy Officials
The Academy’s officials are the President, the Vice President, the Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Secretary, the Treasurer and the Editor. These persons must also be Academy members.

The President is elected by the Academy for a period of two years. The President may be re-elected for a maximum period of two years.

The Deputy President and the Treasurer are elected by the Academy for a period of two years. Both may be re-elected.

The Permanent Secretary is elected by the Academy for an unspecified period of time. A contract is drawn up by the Presiding Committee.

The Deputy Secretary and the Editor are chosen by the Presiding Committee, which draws up a contract for these positions.

The Committees
Within the Academy there are a number of committees that prepare various matters: the Planning Committee, the Reviewing Committee, the Editorial Committee and the Financial Committee.

The Sections
The Academy is divided into six sections – each one representing different competencies in the field of defence. These are:

  • Section I, Land Warfare Studies
  • Section II, Naval Warfare Studies
  • Section III, Air Warfare Studies
  • Section IV, The Science of Military Technology
  • Section V, Other branch of science of importance to the nation’s security and defence
  • Section VI, Security Policy Studies

Each section has its own governing body and is responsible for holding its own meetings, symposiums and excursions, etc.
